Thankfully the people on my e-mail list aren’t looking for a “quick fix” solution to business and financial success.
About 6 years ago I learned something called the “Win the Day” formula from an uber successful real estate coach. Unfortunately I don’t remember his name so I’ll just take the credit for it.:)
Anyway, part of that “formula” was to write 2 handwritten cards each day to people. He said if you weren’t booked completely solid then you should be writing handwritten notes to people.
Well, I took his advice and I can tell you without a doubt that it has made more of a difference in my life than most other things. And it didn’t cost much. Just a stamp and a few minutes.
I used to be so legalistic about it that if I got backed up I’d spend a day writing 20 or 30 handwritten cards.
Unfortunately I got so bogged down with different situations that I got away from it a few months ago.
Thankfully I realized how important it is and have now re-committed.
So why are hand-written cards so powerful? One of the reasons in this virtual world we live in is because the recipient knows they were genuinely thought of and that it took you giving up your most valuable commodity, your time. It also creates a greater connection because it isn’t online.
If you’re like me, you might be quick to delete an e-mail or text but you’ll save a handwritten card forever.
Who can you write cards to?
You might start with the most important people in your life – your family.
You can also send to:
- Clients
- Team members
- Vendors
- Anyone you come across during the day
I challenge you to start writing handwritten cards on a consistent basis. You might even consider starting your day with it.
I not only have sent thousands of notes over the years but I recently was brought to tears when my daughter’s camp counselor gave us a handwritten note. She shared how special our daughter was and what a difference she made in her life.
